I had the pleasure of talking to Addi Collins about her show journey and where she sees herself going.
“Hey! My name is Addi Collins. I’m from the small town of Clay City, Indiana. My passion is the livestock industry by far. I’m so grateful that the passion has never left!”
How it all Started
“My show career started when I was in third grade. As soon as I could, I decided to show cattle and continue the tradition. My mom had shown cattle when she was in 4-h, so I decided to follow in her footsteps.”
As Addi has shown she has created some incredible memories.
“A highlight for me was getting to go to Kansas City to watch my favorite steer, Honda. He won Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer in 2021. He was my favorite steer!”
JoCo Jewels
“I started JoCo Jewels around November of 2024. I started my business because I wanted to pay for show entries. I one day would love to be able to buy my own steer, that’s my main goal!
Running a business at a young age has taught me a lot! I’ve learned how to manage my time and money more appropriately. I’ve learned that businesses have lots of ups and downs which has pushed me to support other small businesses.I see JoCo Jewels going so much further! I’m looking forward to what’s next! My customers are truly the best!”
“My biggest supporter is my mom! She is the best mom I could ever ask for. She supports me with the cattle as well as JoCo Jewels. I could never thank her enough!”
Words of Advice
“The best advice I’ve ever received was “keep your head up”. I feel this is a very common saying, but it has a lot of meaning. When I feel defeated after a loss I just remind myself to just keep my head up!”
Looking Ahead
“I hope to make a difference in the stock show industry by being a role model for the younger exhibitors. I hope my show calves production sales increase so I can help even more youth with their cattle project! I love helping the youth!”
“My last piece of advice is to remember the goal even when you get in a slump. Never forget your dreams even when it gets hard. Make your younger self proud!”
