Your business/person to watch for this month is BDN boutique owned by Bailey Narup.

Bailey started BDN as a fun side hustle during her junior year of high school. She first started selling jewelry to her friends but later on started creating collegiate apparel for them as they started choosing their colleges.  In 2023 Bailey graduated and decided to take BDN further as she started doing markets. Bailey said  “ I knew in the back of my mind i wanted to own a boutique”  a few months later bailey started stocking boutique clothes and then it quickly took off from there Bailey said “doing markets and posting on social media really helped me grow as a business owner and continue BDN”  a highlight for Bailey has been the ability to do markets and livestock shows where she can meet her buyers Bailey said “i always thought i was an introvert but being able to get out there and interact with my customers has really helped me find my place in the world and what i love to do”.  I asked bailey what she would do differently when she started she said “if i could go back i’d go all in” she feels that she played it safe and moved slowly she said “i would’ve loved to have inventory and start selling my clothing and accessories right when i had the idea instead of second guessing myself”.

As we all know that the supporters in your life make a big difference for Bailey. Someone that’s continued to be there for her through her boutique journey is her mom.

“She has been the one to come to all the events with me, the one who helps me set up the one who helps me with inventory, the one that models my inventory when it’s something she likes. She has always been willing to do absolutely anything for me in the business and outside of it.”

Bailey’s advice for a boutique owner just starting out would be to “just go for it”  as Bailey has learned there are people willing to help you and support you along the way even though it may not feel like it.

In the future for BDN bailey is hoping to make BDN her full time gig she hopes to continue going to markets and livestock shows she hopes to continue to grow her social media audience and overall continue to sell clothes and accessories to the people who love and support her business.

The final advice Bailey leaves with us today is “for anyone thinking of pursuing their dreams of going down a different path than everyone around you, absolutely go for it, do what makes you happy, take risks and find your true calling”.
