Kos custom co. is owned by Keegen Steinke she creates custom livestock brushes that feature  amazing logos and custom art on incredible brushes and tumblers.

My name is Keegan Steinke, I’m 16 years old- going to be a senior in HS this upcoming fall, and I’m from Orfordville, Wisconsin. I’ve grown up in the livestock and farming industry. I started my own sheep production flock in 2018 and have been showing lambs ever since(also adding in a few beef steers, boer goats, and swine). I also run a small business called KOS Livestock Brush Co.”

“I started this in January of 2025 because my family owns a feed store where we hosted an event for our youth livestock showers and we needed a gift to put in their goodie bags. I did some research and found custom brushes but I wanted to give a unique touch so I started doing even more research on how to create them myself. I did a few test runs and then we started making them. At first I just sold to friends that had heard of me doing it and it just grew from that, I couldn’t be happier by how much growth I’ve seen in the past 7 months!”

I would say my biggest highlight so far is getting my brushes to the national level- I have sold to numerous states and even recently shipped out an order to go to a national show as class winner prizes. I was shocked when one of the chairs reached out to me and how big of an order it was; however, I knew I could get it done and if they turned out great it could help get my name out there even more.”

To keep trying, never give up, and that there is always something to improve on.”

Even though Keegen just started, the future for Kos livestock brushes is bright and strong.   “As I continue making custom brushes, I hope to improve my outreach and customer base. But also to get more options for you- as a customer. I recently introduced a checkerboard print brush and stencil stickers instead of a logo or name tag. I want to be able to get you the patterns, colors, and ‘stickers’ that you would want!”

The struggles come as you grow and Kos livestock brushes are growing fast.   “One of my biggest obstacles so far to be honest was the supply and demand that I was seeing. As more and more orders came in, I would run out of brushes, or customers would want a specific type of brush(like colored bristles or a different material bristle) that I would have to order in and hope that they get in on time. At the start I was also using another business to make the stickers(due to me not having a printer) and sometimes they would get backed up and I wouldn’t get them in the quickest I needed them. However, since then I have bought my own sticker printer and can make them efficiently, and I’m always stocked on brushes ba few specialty brushes.”

What is the biggest thing business running has taught you?  “I would say the biggest thing that running this business myself is that prioritizing is a big deal and it really helps on what needs to get done and by when.”
