LH Photography is owned by Lindsay Hanewich. Lindsay grew up in Texas and was very involved in the ag industry. She moved to Indiana and has created an incredible path for herself in LH Photography. LH Photography has been very blessed, from the amazing shows they get to photograph to the incredible team Lindsay has built.

“Hi! My name is Lindsay Hanewich, I currently reside in Rensselaer, IN with kids, Jaxon who is 7 and Stockton who is 1.”

Lindsay grew up in a small town in Texas, just north of College Station. Lindsay was very active in the ag industry through her family’s farm, and her years in 4-H and FFA.

“I grew up in a small town in Texas just North of College Station on my family’s commercial cow/calf operation. While growing up, I was active in both 4-H and FFA, and had the opportunity to show and participate in livestock events all across the United States. After graduation, I continued my education at Blinn Junior College before transferring to Texas A&M University. I was a member of the livestock judging team at both colleges, and was an All-American while at Texas A&M.”

After graduation, Lindsay moved to the Midwest. She started a job working for an online livestock sales company.

“I moved to the Midwest where I took a job working for one of the very first online livestock sales companies. It was while being there my real love for photography, videography and graphic design grew. I had only dabbled in it prior to this.”

After several years Lindsay started LH Photography. She now is the official photographer of so many amazing shows.

“After several years of freelancing, I began LH Photography. Since its start, we have shot shows as well as farms all across the United States. We are the official photographer of Michigan Livestock Expo, Indiana Youth Expo, and the Indiana State Fair, as well as numerous state shows, county fairs, and jackpots.”

This industry has impacted Lindsay in so many ways, from growing up being involved in this industry to creating her own path.

“I am the 6th generation of my family to be involved in the livestock industry. My grandpa used to tell me the stories of how they slept in the barns and never even had hotels. A lot has changed since then, we now have Airbnb’s and Doordash. But, in all reality I would not be who I am today or where I am today without this industry. It has opened so many doors for me, and introduced me to so many great people. I feel like no matter where I go, I run into someone I know. For instance, I was shooting in Texas this spring and went to pick up dinner and ran into someone I knew and the next day I saw someone I knew in the airport.”

Lindsay has had the privilege of showing in 4-H. Lindsay has shown and did almost everything, from livestock judging to showing a pen of 3 meat chickens.

“I am so privileged that my parents allowed me to be in 4-H and follow my dreams. I showed all species of livestock (including a pen of 3 meat chickens) growing up. I also participated in livestock judging, speech contests, and quiz bowls. I started the judging program in our county 4-H club. When I was in 8th grade, we didn’t have a judging team, so I was given the opportunity to practice with the county to the south of us. At the time Brant Poe was the county agent there, he later was my coach at Blinn as well. He would have me come practice with his kids, which later helped me that spring. I was the High Point at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Contest out of over 1000 participants. I was lucky to have such a great support system.”

LH Photography got their first Indiana State Fair in 2017. Before that Lindsay had shot a handful of farms and jackpot shows. The Indiana State Fair became Lindsay’s big breakthrough.

“We started with 5 employees at the 2017 Indiana State Fair and now my team has grown to 30 during the Indiana State Fair. We now photograph over 100 places a year.

Lindsay started LH Photography to be able to give back to the industry that helped mold her into the amazing woman she is today.

“The kids I have had the opportunity to photograph become family. I share their highs and even the lows and I am always there to try to offer a few words.”

Lindsay says “Connections are everything.” You never know who will help you along the way and sometimes it’s the people you never suspected.

“You never know when you might meet someone who you might need to call up one day. A few words of wisdom: always be cautious of what you say, and what you do, someone is always watching.”

Lindsay has been blessed with so many amazing coworkers. LH Photography started with 5 employee’s and now has 30. Lindsay has created an incredible team as she makes sure that her and the interns are on the same level.

“ From the very first Indiana State Fair in 2017, I have been blessed with some amazing individuals. After the very first year, I knew I wanted to grow and take on more so, I knew that I needed to hire other photographers and offer internships. I have worked to put together what I feel is one of the best teams out there. We are a little different than most, as everyone who is part of the team is an equal: intern, paid photographer, to me it doesn’t matter. We always need to be willing to learn or answer a question and work together. This team has become part of my family. I can call them up and they will do anything they can to help. They also love my kids BIG. And for all of this I am forever grateful to them.”

The journey has been incredible for Lindsay. She has hit many of her goals and has learned so many amazing things. Lindsay continues to set her goals and hit them!

“It has been the greatest feeling ever. I am a very, very goal oriented person. Every year I sit down in January and put together a list of goals (my family, my business, personal) and to see those goals become reality is like nothing you have ever felt before. “ “People’s judgement on my business ethics, and personal choices.”

Through her businesses growth Lindsay has learned that nothing matters besides what you think. “At the end of the day we have to be able to lay our head down and know we did the right thing and that is all that matters. Only one person is allowed to judge us.”

When asked what advice Lindsay would give to a young business owner this is what she said,

“If you have a chance take it! I also read a book this summer called “The Let Them Theory.” I would recommend it to anyone who is just starting out in a business venture or even anyone in general. It has a lot of very useful information in it. Remember “LET THEM” but more importantly “LET ME!”

Lindsay leaves us with this:

“Build a strong support team. Then hit the ground running. No goal is ever too big. But remember a goal is just a dream if you don’t give it a timeline.”
