Let’s talk about the best mascot in the world! Skylar’s blue Aussie, Broker!
Skylar said”Broker holds the key to my heart along with all things livestock, jewelry, and traveling.” Skylar finished college last year with a degree in parmaceutical sales and recently decided to get her RN. I wanted to be able to offer beautiful peices at an affordable price so everyone had a peice of authentic jewelry I loved. I never knew this is how far it would take me but I’m obsessed!” I asked when did SB jewelry start. Skylar said “To think about it now I can’t belive it. I started SB jewelry the summer between my junior and senior year of highschool, so in 2020! So if you want it you can do it!” I asked Skylar what has been her highlight of running SB jewelry.
“ The highlight for me would be moments of getting to see people walking into the livestock ring, weddings, family photos and whatever it may be. But special times and events for my coustomers and them wanting my peice to be a part of that moment is a real dream come true. I had a moment last year, I was with my family and saw someone at the airport with my hat on, and I asked where they got it and they said they orderd it from my instagram. That moment felt amazing! I was reaching so many people watching them rep my brand will always be a highlight. I asked Skylar whats her biggest piece of advice is. “ My biggest piece of advice would have to be just stay true to your buisness your beliefs and you will find people who support you just becauce your you! I asked Skylar what she sees in SB jewelry future. Skylar said “ I feel like this is the hardest question because I never evan imagined it would be here. So I hope it just keeps on growing and flourishing. I do at times get flustered on what I will come up with next but somehow it just hits me. Which keeps the new ideas coming and keeps SB jewelry going.
I have noticed that as I have grown my ideas and designs have changed which keeps SB jewelry going.”
I asked Skylar what has been her biggest struggle. She said ”I feel like I have a niche for buisness and communicating with people. So often times I felt like it came easy but the struggles were always the downfall. Whether it be an event that didn’t go well or pieces I thought would sell out and didn’t so I think the biggest struggle would be being confident in yourself when it doesn’t always bang right off the bat. Keep your integrity and people will keep loving your peices.
I asked Skylar what business running has taught her the most. Skylar said ”To appreciate everyone who shows any form of interest in your buisness whether it is sharing a post, purchasing a t-shirt ,or even a customer who spends $900 on a beautiful necklace – everyone matters.
I have so many people say I don’t wear that type of jewelry or its too expensive
but they buy a hat or share my post- those are my people! They give support were they can, and I appreciate that so much. I have learned to give what you want back! I often try to support small businesses and share posts and do collabs and so much more . Just be kind to everyone and give back. I know how hard it is to keep a small business going.” I asked Skylar what her favorite piece she has ever made was. “ I have so many pieces I have made that I love but I think the one that I hold true to my heart is the one pearl. It was the first piece I ever sold for more than 100 of in an week. It was the first piece I felt like you could wear in the ring to make a statement but also outside the ring or just every day in the cooler it’s simple but also elegent.” The last thing I asked Skylar was what do you remember most about when you first started SB jewelry.
Skylar said “ This question is what
I would consider an emotional question. Like I said when I introduced myself I have the most supportive family even when they don’t know what your ideas really are. I remember Louisville being the first place I took jewelry to. At this time, I also took so many cattle- which also came with so much stuff. My dad can be a stratigic packer and doesn’t really like to take anything extra so when I asked him to put extra storage totes into the neck of the trailer it sparked a couple of questions but none were negetive. He asked me if I really took the time and put my all into these peices as I had them priced at a pretty penny . It made me think about my buisness and how I wanted to potray it. The type of customers I wanted to have and supportors. And the type of influencer I wanted to be to other people. But it also meant a lot that a simple question brought this much emotion to my heart and the heart of SB jewelry. Both of my parents run very sucessful buisnesses. And i’ve set the tone that anything is possible, so I think when I get asked this question, the only piece of advice or memory I have is no dream is too big and you can do anything you set your mind to.
